To turn off the lights or other electronics you will need to buy some extra smart home devices but the capability is there. One of the best loved features of Amazon Amazon Echo Dot is the ability to send Text Messages without picking up your phone.

There is still a way to send messages to friends or family using the Amazon Echo Dot. The first way to send messages using your Echo Dot is to set up Alexa messaging and calling. This is an awesome feature that allows you to call and message your friends using Alexa.
