One of the most popular apps currently available on the App Store is Google Arts and Culture. The initial idea behind this app was to allow people access to high quality images of artwork that allow users to study the pieces in detail. Recently Google added a feature to the app as an experiment to make looking at artwork more fun. And boy did they succeed. The new feature on the Google Arts and Culture app allows users to take a selfie and compare their face to faces in historical pieces of artwork. The accuracy is surprisingly accurate… in some cases. Although the feature is unavailable in Texas and Illinois, the popularity of the feature has exploded.
What is The Face Match Feature on The Google Arts & Culture App?
The face match feature or selfie match feature allows users of the Google Arts and Culture app to take a selfie and find look alikes in historic artwork. The app uses computers to map your face and find similar faces by comparing them. The app will automatically match you to your best match. Although the feature was originally designed to help users explore art, which it has succeeded in, the face match feature has turned into a source of entertainment and laughter. Users are having a blast taking selfies, finding a look alike, and sharing it with friends all over social media. Here is a link that will show you how to use the face match feature on the Google Arts & Culture App.
You may notice that you can only find a face match in selfies or pictures that you take using the app. You may wonder if there is any possible way to use pictures from your gallery in the Face Match feature on the Google Arts and Culture App…
Can You Use Pictures From Your Camera Roll on the Face Match Feature on The Google Arts and Culture App?
It is easier than ever to match your face to a face in a painting. Google’s Arts and Culture face match app allows users to find multiple faces in paintings that look similar if not identical to them. As of now the only way to compare your face to paintings in the app is to take a real time photo using either of the cameras on your device. Many users of the app have asked the question “is it possible to use pictures from your camera roll on the face match app?” or “can I compare pictures from my gallery to paintings using the Google Arts and Culture app?”
Unfortunately, Google has not yet added the ability to use pictures from your camera roll in the selfie painting matching feature on the Google Arts and Culture app. Although the feature is not avaialble as of now, we may see Google add this feature sometime in the near future.
