Instagram stories allow Instagram users to post real time content onto a “story” that allows followers or any other users to view the photo or video as many times as they would like for 24 hours after the video or photo was taken. The great thing about stories is that they are a good representation of your life as it happens. Your story will expand as you add more content to it. After you add a few different segments, those segments turn into a “story” that can be viewed by your followers. Since the release of Instagram stories, people have criticized how Instagram was copying the concept of the Snapchat Story. However, now Instagram has raised the bar by introducing live Instagram Stories.
What is An Instagram Live Story?
An Instagram live story is essentially a regular Instagram story, the difference is pretty obvious, its a live stream from your phone. When you start a live snapchat story anyone who follows you, or anyone who looks at your profile, can see what you are doing or talking about. It does not matter what you are interested in or good at, Instagram live stories are fun to create and watch. Many celebrities have started live stories for their fans to watch. It is extremely easy to start an Instagram live story. You simply Go to your story and select “live”, instead of “normal”. When you tap start live story, you will be streaming live to all of your followers. To watch a live story you will simply look for anywhere that a regular Instagram story would be such as the profile image of an account or at the top of your feed, and look for a story with a “live” tag on it. To watch the live story you will simply tap on the story and join in on the story. Live stories are a great option for people who have something to say or for businesses who want to share behind the scenes action or promote their products. During a live story people can comment on the story and like the story. While you conduct your live stream, you can view comments and see the likes float from the bottom right hand corner to the upper right hand corner. People who are viewing your live story will be able to see how many people are viewing the story by looking at the viewer count in the upper right hand corner. You will also be able to see how many people are watching your Instagram live story by looking at the same viewer tracker. The question a lot of Instagram users are asking about the live stories is “Can I see who is watching my Instagram live story?”
Can You See Who is Watching Your Instagram Live Story?
As more people begin to venture into the unknown feature that is the Instagram live story, they begin to wonder about some of the features. One big question that we have received multiple times is “can I see who is watching my Instagram live story?” To answer this question we had to conduct a little experiment. We created a live story and had people watch the story. What we found was interesting. In the end we discovered that as you stream your live story on Instagram, you are not exactly able to see who specifically is viewing your live story. There is no way to see the names or usernames of those watching the story. However, this does not mean there is no way to see who is watching your stories. Just like in a regular snapchat story, you can see the number of people who have viewed your story, but you cannot see exactly who. That is unless they interact.
How to See Who is Watching Your Instagram Live Story
While there is no way to see everyone who views your story, there is a way that you can see some of the people who view your story. It would be nice if Instagram gave you a list of everyone that viewed your live story just so you could know, but they don’t. All you get is a number in the upper right hand corner. However, you can see who views your story if they like or comment on your live story. The comments and likes on an Instagram live story are not anonymous, the person who is streaming the story, along with anyone who is viewing the story will be able to see who is commenting on the story and what they commented. So if you are watching someone’s story and you don’t want them to know about it, be sure not to like the story or comment. If you do, the person streaming the story will be able to see that you were watching the story. This seems like common sense but you would be surprised. So anyway, the only way for you to see who is watching your Instagram live story is if someone comments or likes your story. Maybe sometime in the future Instagram will release a way for its users to see exactly who is watching their story, but it is unlikely. Comment below if you think people should be able to see who is viewing their Instagram live story.
